Darche’s Eclipse 270 Gen 2 Awning brings next-level shade to your 4WD camping setup. Offering a huge 120 sq-ft of instant cover, it spans the full length of your vehicle then wraps around to fully cover the rear, giving you greater cover than most other 270-degree awnings – all backed by an industry-leading 3-Year Warranty.

Designed for an easy one-person setup, the unit is freestanding during setup and pack down. The heavy-duty swivel hinge system holds the entire kit up while you extend and tension the awning arms and release the three pivoting alloy telescopic leg poles stowed along the rafters. Attach the final leg poles and you’ll be under cover in a matter of minutes.

The awning is made from premium 320gsm ripstop polycotton canvas and has an impressive PU 1500mm water rating, plus seam sealing that will keep you dry in extended rainy conditions. Gutter pulls also allow you to fasten additional lines that prevent water from pooling on the awning.

Gen 2 awnings feature a redesigned 600gsm PVC transit cover with drain holes for moisture, and is spacious enough to allow for easy packing – you can even keep the pole bag inside!

The three included heavy-duty mounting brackets suit most commercially available flat roof rack or steel basket set ups and provide ample support for the awning – they even feature a small hump to clear the edge of your roof rack. You can also mount the Eclipse using the built-in 13mm nut channels on the back of the awning body itself, making it compatible with a wide range of third-party awning attachment systems.

There’s a host of accessories available for the Eclipse series. You can maximize coverage with wall kits, or expand with bug-free shelter provided by the Eclipse Retreat Annex. Imitators come close but never exceed the shelter provided by a Darche Eclipse 270, thanks to an extra rafter arm providing total coverage of your tailgate area – giving you protection from rain and sun where you need it most.

Make sure to check the weight rating and suitability of your roof rack and vehicle with appropriate manufacturers prior to purchase. Most OEM roof racks are not compatible with the mounting system. We recommend professional installation through one of our approved installation partners.

Vehicles with a hatch that rises above the level of your roof rack may interfere with the rear section of the awning – for this setup we recommend a Darche Eclipse 180-degree awning. Pickup trucks with an appropriate rack can use either model, depending on the mounting points available.

Extended mounting brackets are also available as an upgrade to the standard brackets. All EC270 awnings ship in two packages – the awning itself, and the standard brackets. The bracket box also contains your pegs, guy lines, and tension straps. All awnings come with standard brackets, so if you need the extended version instead, please contact us.

LEFT HAND VERSION: Suitable for mounting on the left-hand side (eg. driver’s side on LHD vehicles) and is ideal for rigs with a swinging door that opens from left to right, such as a Jeep Wrangler, Ford Bronco, Lexus GX460, and Land Rover Defender & Discovery I/II.

RIGHT HAND VERSION: This awning is meant for mounting on the right-hand side (eg. passenger side on LHD vehicles) and is ideally suited for rigs with a swinging door that opens from right to left such as the Mercedes G-Class or FJ Cruiser

SAFETY NOTE: Ensure that your awning is anchored with all legs, straps, guy ropes and pegs at all times when in use. Damage to the awning or your vehicle may occur if the awning is not fully supported. We also do not recommend using the awning in heavy snow conditions due to the weight build-up that snow can cause. Weather damage is not covered under the standard warranty, but we do stock various replacement parts that are available for purchase.

Please also ensure that when you are tensioning the awning that you use the black tabs attached directly to the rafter arms. The small slide-in fabric piece at the front of the vehicle is not designed to hold the tension straps.

    WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

In 1991, Darche revolutionised the traditional swag market with the introduction of the Dome style swag. DARREN O’DWYER, the founder of Darche with his wife CHERYL (DAR-CHE), embarked on an eastern Australia journey. Wanting a shelter arrangement that was quick, practical and easy to stow, Darren used his imagination and created a canvas shell with fibreglass poles and the dome style swag was born. Darren realised he required a suitable and purpose-built factory arrangement in order to suffice demand. Using Australian supply chain partners, Darche became the leading swag and canvas converter in Australia

Today Darche is proudly owned by the Charles Parsons Group who have been actively involved for over 20 years in supplying textile and trim componentry to Darche. Charles Parsons are the largest textile wholesaler in the Southern Hemisphere with offices in every capital city of Australia, including offices in Fiji, Auckland and Shanghai. The day-to-day running of Darche occurs in a warehouse facility based in Thomastown, Victoria with a site area of more than 40,000m2. Darche is overseen by experienced textile product developers, business strategists and passionate staff who are keen outdoor enthusiasts with sound knowledge and experience to match.

    OUR PROMISE

We are passionate, dynamic and keen. We enjoy the same lifestyle choices as our consumers. We strive to provide our consumers the very best value, reliability and service and most importantly we recognise the trust they place on us. We welcome our consumer’s feedback both positive and negative and promise to keep delivering whilst listening. We are mindful of our vulnerable environment and build our products to last the journey. We encourage life time use and if over the years it requires attention, even if it is a discontinued product, we endeavour to find a solution, on a best effort basis, to have it back and performing for you.

    WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT?

Darche’s growth and shortage of experienced canvas converters and local machinists, has seen Darche establish reputable off shore assembly and supply chain partners. Operating from four major plants purposely selected and audited by Darche. Machinists, assemblers, finishers, tool makers and QA/QC supervisors are included in our required workforce of over 180 people over our four plants. It is vitally important to note Darche do not use Trading Houses or vertical arrangements off shore to source product. We at Darche develop all product prototypes in Australia and are involved from concept through to market release. Utilising Charles Parsons accredited laboratories and leading processes, all developments are then vigorously tested at the Thomastown facility and again in real life situations by developers.
